Get a bird’s eye view of some of the country’s landmarks from the luxury and safety of a helicopter. Heliflight’s helicopters provide you with stunning views from expansive glass windows and because they can hover you have an opportunity to stop and take photographs.

Iron Bridge and Severn Valley Tour

 

Take off from Halpenny Green airport, experience the Severn Valley with stunning vistas across the Wyre Forest and Shropshire Plain. Look Down on Thomas Telford’s distinctive Iron Bridge as we fly around Coalbrookdale. On to Bridgenorth nestled on a hill and across to the West Midland’s Safari Park. Then it’s down to the Wyre Forest and Kinver Edge. You might soar above the steam trains as they chug up the Severn Valley railway. Onwards to Kidderminster, famous for it’s carpets you take in the majestic Clee Hills before returning to Halfpenny Green airport with your camera full of photographs.

 

The Malverns

 

Flying out of Gloucestershire airport the beautiful countryside of The Malverns unfolds before you. On a clear day look to the west for breathtaking views across Wales to the Brecon Beacons. Taking in Gloucester Cathedral we fly right across to Hartbury and over the top of the agricultural college. Onwards to Newent’s market Gardens you get a great view of Eastnor Castle as we turn again to take in the historic town of Ledbury. Now the rambling hills of the Malverns dominate the landscape as we fly over Colwall nestled in the foothills. Malvern showground passes beneath us on the way to Worcester. Heading for Tewkesbury the huge square tower of the Abbey can be seen from miles away.  See the rivers Severn and Avon join as we turn to head for Cheltenham and the famous race course. Back to Gloucestershire airport  relax in Heliflight’s lounge and browse through the pictures on your camera.

 

The Cotswolds

 

This tour gives you an exhilarating look at the Cotswolds using a helicopter’s ability to cover a vast amount of ground quickly. Flying from Gloucestershire airport we head to Cheltenham and take in the race course there and at Prestbury. Onwards to Winchcombe and Sudeley Castle, then Stanway and Stanton come into view. Broadway next looks like the quintessential Costwold Village from the air closely followed by Stow-on-the-Wold, the highest town in the Cotswolds. Soon we’re speeding towards Bourton-on-the water and then Northleach, the historic wool town. Spy the roman villas at Chedworth before viewing painswick commonly regarded as the Queen of the Cotswolds before landing at Gloucestershire airport.  

 

The Wye and Severn Bridges

 

If you want glorious scenery with geological history and marvellous engineering then this helitour is for you. Flying from Gloucestershire airport you’ll spy the magnificent cathedral and head out over the docks to Painswick, commonly regarded as Queen of the Cotswolds. The striking Berkley Castle is next followed by the first of the engineering landmarks, Berkley Power station. Now the Old Severn Bridge comes into view closely followed by the magnificent New Severn Bridge casting shadows over the water below. On to the historic town of Chepstow you’ll take in the castle, before heading for the Wye Valley. This beautiful scenic gorge will take your breath away. Tintern Abbey is the next landmark, glistening in the sunshine closely followed by St. Briavels Castle. Now onto the Forest of Dean you can see the fault lines that made this beautiful landscape millions of years ago. Then you’re landing back at Gloucestershire airport with great memories and a camera full of pictures.
